Description
This advanced clinical supervision training is designed for clinicians who have completed foundational clinical supervision training and are seeking to strengthen their ability to integrate culture, values, identity, and context into supervisory decision-making. While foundational supervision training introduces the importance of contextual awareness, this course explores how contextual factors influence supervision and provides practical strategies for navigating them using the ARC Integrative Supervision Model (Assessment, Response, Context).
Effective supervision is shaped by more than clinical knowledge alone. Culture, personal and professional values, identity, life experiences, organizational systems, and differing perspectives all influence communication, feedback, evaluation, and supervisory decision-making. Supervisors who intentionally recognize and respond to these contextual influences are better equipped to strengthen the supervisory relationship, support supervisee development, and promote quality client care.
Participants will learn practical strategies for assessing contextual influences, adapting supervisory responses, and navigating differences in culture, values, identity, and perspective through case consultation, guided reflection, and applied supervision scenarios.
Learning Objectives
1. Analyze how culture, values, identity, life experiences, and contextual factors influence supervisory interactions, communication, and decision-making.
2. Apply the ARC Integrative Supervision Model (Assessment, Response, Context) to assess contextual influences and adapt supervisory responses across diverse supervision situations.

Dr. Rhonda Johnson is the founder and owner of the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships (CCFAM), a large and thriving group practice established in 2007 that specializes in family systems and trauma-informed care. She is also the founder of CCFAM Training, launched in 2011, which provides continuing education designed to support therapists across the lifespan of their careers. In 2021, she founded Play Therapy Training Resources, offering specialized continuing education to support play therapists at every stage of their professional journey.
