This engaging workshop is designed for mental health professionals and equine professionals who are passionate about integrating equine-assisted activities into their therapeutic practice. Participants will explore the fundamentals of equine-assisted counseling—from understanding the unique therapeutic benefits of partnering with horses to developing effective facilitation techniques.
Throughout the workshop, attendees will gain insights into the theoretical frameworks that underpin equine-assisted therapy, including the importance of connection, challenge, and celebration in the healing process. We will examine the roles and responsibilities of both mental health and equine professionals, emphasizing the collaborative nature of this work.
Practical, hands-on experiences will allow participants to actively engage with horses, enhancing their skills in observing equine behavior and body language, and understanding how these can mirror and influence the emotional states of clients. Attendees will also learn how to design and implement equine-assisted activities tailored to specific client needs, promoting emotional growth, self-awareness, and resilience.
