Description
This advanced clinical supervision training is designed for clinicians who have completed foundational clinical supervision training or who are serving in supervisory roles that require evaluation, remediation, and gatekeeping responsibilities. Using the ARC Integrative Supervision Model, participants learn a structured approach to evaluating supervisee performance, differentiating developmental needs, performance concerns, and competence concerns, and selecting supervisory responses that are ethical, intentional, and developmentally appropriate.
Effective evaluation extends beyond identifying problems. Supervisors must gather multiple sources of information, recognize developmental progression, document supervisory decisions, implement performance improvement and remediation strategies, and fulfill gatekeeping responsibilities when necessary. Throughout the course, participants learn how intentional supervisory decisions strengthen supervisee development while ultimately protecting client welfare.
Participants will apply the ARC Integrative Supervision Model and the ARC Supervisor Toolkit—including the ARC Supervision Snapshot, ARC Supervision: Decision Guide, Performance Improvement Plan, Competence Remediation Plan, and Gatekeeping Readiness Checklist—to evaluate supervision cases, guide supervisory decision-making, implement structured supervisory interventions, and support ethical, competency-based supervision.

Dr. Rhonda Johnson is the founder and owner of the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships (CCFAM), a large and thriving group practice established in 2007 that specializes in family systems and trauma-informed care. She is also the founder of CCFAM Training, launched in 2011, which provides continuing education designed to support therapists across the lifespan of their careers. In 2021, she founded Play Therapy Training Resources, offering specialized continuing education to support play therapists at every stage of their professional journey.
