Description

The Supervisor Refresher Training prepares participants to identify the needs of their supervisees with an emphasis on activities to build a relationship with a supervisee, creating a plan for growth for supervisees, and activities to build self-awareness of supervisees. Current Board Rules, Code of Ethics, and standards will be included in the training. A recognition of the roles and responsibilities of supervision as well as a comparison of supervision theories including theory based, non-theory based, and newer research-based perspectives. The process of interviewing, selecting a supervisee, and ethical guidelines in supervision will be examined. Legal and ethical issues in supervision will be identified and participants will be provided electronic documents, ethical paperwork, and evaluations for both the supervisee and supervisor to use throughout the supervision process. Participants will be given activities and assessments to encourage dialogue as a culturally responsive supervisor.*Note: Each year, we update our trainings by recording a new version.
The handouts for this training are updated throughout the year every time there are TX rule updates. The handouts included with this training are: an up to date summary of all changes to board Rules and Code of Ethics, current Proposed rules, and an excel CE table to track CEs for state licenses and other certifications.

4. Compare theory and non-theory based models of supervision
5. Examine who to choose for supervision, what to discuss in the interview process, and ethical guidelines for supervision
6. Prepare documents and ethical paperwork to use in supervision

Dr. Rhonda Johnson is the founder and owner of the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships (CCFAM), a large and thriving group practice established in 2007 that specializes in family systems and trauma-informed care. She is also the founder of CCFAM Training, launched in 2011, which provides continuing education designed to support therapists across the lifespan of their careers. In 2021, she founded Play Therapy Training Resources, offering specialized continuing education to support play therapists at every stage of their professional journey.
