Nik Johnson has been a private practice counselor in North Texas since 2017, working with clients of all ages with a focus on complex trauma, dissociation, and play therapy. His early experience providing play therapy within the foster care system continues to inform his clinical perspective and sensitivity to developmental trauma.
As a trainer, Nik integrates strong theoretical grounding with practical application. His courses reflect a clear command of both the historical foundations and evolving practices within play therapy, while equipping clinicians with tools they can implement immediately in session. He regularly teaches on topics including EMDR, developmental trauma, dissociation, and play-based interventions.
Participant feedback consistently highlights his engaging, responsive teaching style and his ability to translate complex clinical concepts into accessible, usable strategies. Clinicians frequently report increased confidence in their work, particularly in applying EMDR and navigating challenging client presentations.
Nik’s trainings are clinically rigorous, relationally grounded, and designed to support meaningful skill development for therapists at varying levels of experience.
