Description

This play therapy training is offered On-Demand as a go at your own pace course for non-contact hours. Play therapists face numerous ethical dilemmas involving both children and their families. Participants will apply the Texas state board rules and codes of ethics for LPC/LMFT/LSW, principles from research in play therapy and in the counseling field, and APT Best Practice Guidelines to over 35 play therapy vignettes involving ethical dilemmas. The training is offered with a video and a handout that includes matching format sections for Texas board rules and codes of ethics followed by ethical dilemma vignette interactive discussions. This training also includes a journal article on ethics in play therapy for participants in the on-demand version of the training.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify board rules and codes of ethics for each Texas license, principles in play therapy and counseling field research, and APT Best Practice guidelines

She is the founder and owner of the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships, a large, thriving group practice that was established in 2007 and specializes in family systems and trauma-informed approaches. Dr. Johnson is also the founder and owner of CCFAM Training, established in 2012, offering supervision and ethics courses. She is also the owner of Play Therapy Training Resources, established in 2021. Through those companies, she provides continuing education, supervision, and consultations. She is also a teaching fellow for B.H. Carroll Seminary.
